Angela Chick is an illustrator based in Southsea, UK via Canada. During a careers day in school when she was 8 years old she raised her hand and said proudly (much to her teacher’s amusement) that when she grew up she wanted to be an entrepreneur or a starving artist (yep! Thought that was a job title! Don’t worry – she eats… a LOT) She studied craft and design in Canada before returning to the UK and completing a First Class BA Hons in Printed Textiles. Throughout school and her studies she was always told she drew too much, and when she graduated this didn’t change.
She began working on a range of products in her spare time, selling them at local markets and fairs from London to Brighton and a few places in between.
Alongside her budding business she worked as an arts educator delivering a series of workshops to children and adults. She spent a few years working in a full-time artist residency where she wrote, designed and had published three books on working creatively in early education while delivering workshops and talks to artists and educators.
As well as her own range of greetings cards and gifts she has worked on a range of projects from illustrating content for commercial clients to magazines and creating soft furnishing textiles. She likes to draw with the hopes of making people smile.
In 2012 she decided to go full time with her illustration business and has since had her work in magazines such as Oh Comely, Vogue, Country Homes & Interiors and Anorak.
When she’s not working hard she’s riding her bike, adventuring in the forest, eating snacks, drinking coffee, swimming in the sea, surfing [badly] or playing music.
